At Marshall and Lilley we provide a thorough eye examination with a senior optometrist to every patient.
Many of our patients come to us on recommendation, because they want to see an expert, and have confidence in the results. The time of the exam allows the optometrist to complete all necessary tests and to give the best recommendations for your eyes at the conclusion of the exam.
We use advanced OCT technology to make a detailed assessment of your eye health. The technology allows for three-dimensional, cross-sectional views of the retina and accurate records for future reference.
OCT – optical coherence tomography- is an advanced eye scan similar to ultrasound. OCT uses light rather than sound waves to image the different layers that make up the structure of the retina at the back of the eye. The OCT equipment captures both a photograph and a cross-sectional scan of the eye at the same time. Looking deeper into the structures of the eye, with an OCT will allow an Optometrist to detect early signs of eye health conditions. This could include Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, and Diabetic Retinopathy.
OCT 3D screening is inclusive within the private eye examination, and NHS patients can upgrade to this for a £20 fee. The OCT scan can check for the following conditions:
